Our September gathering will benefit the

McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Program

in St. Charles Community Unit School District 303.

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is a federal law that works to ensure educational stability for children and youth experiencing homelessness.

Here are a few facts about the program in District 303:

  • 308 students are currently eligible for McKinney-Vento services.

  • Approximately 2,200 students in the district are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged.

  • These students are enrolled throughout all District 303 schools—from Early Childhood through High School—with a fairly even distribution across grade levels.

Check out their Wish List:

Durable backpacks for older students (unisex colors)

 Lunchboxes

 Reusable water bottles

Wired over-the-ear headphones for elementary students

Wired in-the-ear headphones for middle and high school students

Deodorant (mini or full-size, male or female)

Gas station, restaurant, or grocery store gift cards ($15–$25 denominations) for older students who are supporting themselves

Every donation, no matter the size, will help students start the school year with confidence and provide them with everyday essentials.
